Until 1973, Covent Garden was an area of decaying streets and warehouse, which only came alive after dark when the fruit and vegetable market traders packed up for the day. Since then the Victorian market and elegant buildings nearby have been converted into stylish shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, creating an animated district which attracts a lively young crowd, night and day.
